Hey everybody! We had a very productive day and I'm exhausted! I loved the way Denisse put it at the end of the day when she said, "Wow, it feels like we've been here only 3 minutes!" The day flew by! We took a science test, finished explorer reports, began some study on Russia, and learned what ratios are. You all worked super hard and I'm proud of you. Let's keep up this pace and remember to work hard so we can play hard. I can't wait to hear your groups present their explorer reports. Have a great night!

Chemical Reactions
As we head into a new month, let us try to keep that oxygen flowing to our brains in the hope that whatever chemical reactions might occur, they lead to great learning and attitude! Today we learned what makes a penny shine...definitely high acid liquids like ketchup, vinegar and lemon juice...surprisingly, not tomato paste! I have no idea why! And the brasso...wow! It took off more than just oxydized copper I think!
I sent home some sample brochures for the upcoming animal reports. They will be done at home. They don't need to be done professionally on the computer...it was just easier and quicker for me to make an example using the templates on Word. They can rather be done professionally with a pen or pencil and colored pencils. You'll probably at least want the picture of the animal printed off the computer and I will let you do that here, but only that. It is due in my box on Thursday, Feb 16th. Here's a great place for getting information: http://www.hoglezoo.org/meet_our_animals/animal_finder/animals-that-are-mammals
We had a fun week but remember there is a very important science test on Monday. Take some time to study! Next week we begin learning about ratios and soon, decimals and percents. We'll be finished soon with The Secret Garden. We begin a new unit in history on Russia. Wow! My brain is ready to explode! Have a wonderful weekend!

Zoo'd Out
Everyone sure seemed tired at the end of the day, including me! I had a great time at the zoo today and especially enjoyed seeing Ms Demeter playing peek-a-boo with the capuchin monkeys! I appreciate all the Cardinal fans who found the zoo's resident cardinal! Thanks for being good representatives of Good Foundations Academy. Thank you drivers for making it possible for us to go today.
Tomorrow is our school assembly. You may wear your school spirit t-shirt. It's also Science Friday! Come ready to learn! Thanks again for a fun day! Get a good night's rest. See you tomorrow!
