Today we began learning about seven men who had such an impact on the world. Galileo, Copernicus, Calvin, Luther, Zwingli, Ignatious, and Gutenberg. They made amazing changes in science, religion and communication. Each 5th grader picked one of them and will write a report this week. The report is due next Tuesday before the break, as well as their life-size person. Those should go home tomorrow for them to begin decorating. I am excited to see what they learn about those men, and maybe see them apply that energy to their own passions.
Speaking of energy, I have noticed way too much of it at the corners of the classroom during transition periods. When it's time to line up for lunch or get packed up for the end of the day, there has been inappropriate behavior. Please remind your student about their need to practice self-control. I am emphasizing it in class but a few reminders from home will only help.
We are getting excited about our Renaissance Market this Friday. All "doo-dads" your student has made must arrive at school with them on Friday morning. We will open market at 10:15. If your child has a clothing accessory he or she wishes to put on to put them in the Renaissance mood, it is okay by me! We'll be holding the market upstairs in our classrooms and in the adjoining teacher's room. Feel free to peek in or help with crowd control if you like! Thanks for your help at home. I am looking forward to seeing the crafts that were made.
Be sure to keep up on engrade to spot missing assignments. Remember that after the following Monday, it's considered a "0" and will not receive a grade. Thanks for your support!
